Learning to Listen like the Earth

Sitting in the car wash and tyre place getting two new left side tyres. Mohammed ordered them in for me when I came in earlier today. Two flat tyres, but a heart full of trust and belief in the new trails these wheels will take. Tomorrow I am going to drive over to Falkland to hold the meeting for Wheel 2 and pick up the lovely Francesca and Maureen on the way. The recurrence of the word Wheel has not escaped me. I have been thinking a lot about the Wheel of life today and what writing that first course 16 years ago was all about. It was about writing an immersive and inspirational piece that could help people find a relationship with themselves and the earth and our place in the universe again, just as I was working to bring myself back into balance with all that is when I was bringing it through. Writing and holding space for Wheel 2 is the most powerful of experiences and I realise just how far a lot of us have come in being able to listen and find our place in it all.
The other thing I am doing, on another window on my laptop, is writing up the plan for the cast and crew and counsellors for my research project which has its days at the end of March and beginning of April. It is about tracking the invisible in the creative process. It is about helping awareness for diifferent needs and preferences and bringing in a model for collaborative practice. It is about creative process and organisation as a circle. It is also about making space for a non-binary style of film directing and seeing what happens when a gender neutral and fluid gaze is consciously and reverently brought to the mix. I have been wondering all day about fluidity and what this is in the creative process.
Here's my title for that:
CHARTING THE INVISIBLE ON A JOURNEY TESTING CONSENSUAL DIRECTING STYLES WITH KAIROS AND CHRONOS AT THE HELM: A film director’s practice led investigation into the effects of providing therapeutic model based conditions for care, inclusivity and mutual empowerment in the creative spaces of film making.
In the creative wheel there is so much to be explored and so much to discover. I work with the notion of Chronos as measured time and Kairos as wild imaginal time, but there is also a third time that is present. I think it is the time of the shaman/visionary and the place of the fluid operator. But I am early on in my thinkings.
Back now to Wheel 2. On the journey with the wheel of the year, we have been really stepping into the present moment and listening to earth consciousness from the perspective of those who are at one with the wheel of time. As you know, I call the wheel the Wholeness Template and am guided that the only teacher is nature and being present with what is now. From this place can the learning come. Learning is like a tap that is turned on when we feel safe and in alignment. I stopped calling myself a teacher a long time ago when I found that it got in the way of people finding their own flow and divination. The Wheel opens us up to a relational way of being with it all and the only way to let the wheel teach is by getting out of the way and not trying to achieve anything or teach anything to anyone. This process of alignment as an educator has taken a long time to get to though and I value my path and all the people who have helped me to learn how to listen like the earth.
I am stepping into a way to try and pass this on to people to work with in a collective now. I have developed a new programme for holding courses called Wheel Consciousness which begins next week. It will be a membership class and comes with materials for holding spaces in the true circle style. In the spirit of collaborative consciousness and non-hierarchical practice an animal spirit from each of the twelve month archetypes will hold the space.
Wheel Consciousness is like awareness, it can't be taught, it has to be listened to and made space for. As an educator with 34 years of experience in holding spaces to enable creative flow to be in charge, I am really holding that this course will support those who truly want to work with wholeness to find their place.
Tyres almost fitted. The big wheel keeps on turning and there's a clear focus for direction, a collaborative spirit and a fluidity that will bring new forms into being.
Here it is the new Wheel Educator Year.
Wheel Consciousness: Learning to Listen like the Earth
It's a course for educators in all forms - for shamanic 'teachers', artist workshop holders, film directors and those working with theatre and acting groups. It is a Gestalt and Earth Ensemble course setting up educators as deep listeners and embodied counsellors and visionaries with the earth.

The offers are open until 27 February.
