4Directions online Story Practitioner Training
Story Practitioner Programme online
starts 16 October 2020
Here is a course working creatively and in depth with story through the Medicine Story Wheel. It covers the 4 Directions of North: Author; East: Life line; South: ancestral banks and West: Myth. The course is a study of self, environment and timeframes to be able to enter into story fields at work in our lives and effect change.
The course can supplement current story telling, psychotherapeutic or shamanic work or be pursued for personal development. Each element comes with literature and 4 weeks of material and 1 group meeting. The course includes 2 in person story-counselling sessions. Meetings and sessions are arranged at times suitable for each person who enrols.
In the Story wheel, each of the 4 directions relates to the information held by the physical body, the vibration of the lifeline, the lives of the ancestors and then the dimension of myth that are the planes behind this one. Each of these places in time, space and then beyond informs and affects the lives we individually live and the story field we operate inside.
The course is a study of self, environment and timeframes that opens our awareness so as Story Practitioners, we are be able to enter into story fields at work in our lives and affect change.
Telling and Creating stories
We work with telling our own stories through various mediums such as:
Taking a walk
Listening and responding
Ethos and Approach
The course has a strong introduction that sets up a 4Directions Story Practitioner ethos, philosophy and approach to begin with. Each person will learn or revisit a practice of holding presence and operate with the Visionary template of presence with the triangle of nature, knowing and trust. Each of these points of the triangle will come alive as character anchors for the story work to unfold.
Each practitioner will set up a Story base in nature that they will return to and will find themselves making a strong relationship with place through this.
Working through the 4 Directions
The four direction areas of Author, Lifeline, Ancestral banks and Myth will each take the focus for a period of 6 weeks. The material for each quarter will be taught in the workshop day and will be offered as literature and exercises in a framework that repeats throughout the 4 Directions but offers different material and ideas for deepening each time.
Through working with the material individually and in the workshop space, as a group, each person will come in touch with a deeper appreciation of how story works. They will be guided to learn how to hold space for others with the Story Wheel set up as a listening template.
A character from the vat of great stories and rhymes oversees or helps to inform each quarter. Mother Goose, Merlin, Sleeping Beauty’s Prince and Anancy the Spider are some of the characters that help the dimension we are looking into to find more context. Parts of the stories these characters come from become an environment for the study of the story field in that quarter and dimension.
Excavating story as a healing art
A story for each quarter will be excavated and brought through by each person who takes part through the flow of the course material.
